Does the TMT250 use the exact same reporting protocol as the FMnnnn vehicle trackers, or does it have its own variant? What I mean is, is the TMT250 compatible with the traccar server, https://www.traccar.org/devices/ which supports the FMnnnn, FMAnnn and FMBnnn trackers?

TMT250 is a subfamily device of FMBXXX family.

So you should register it under "FMBXXX" family @ Traccar and specifically FMBXXX -> TMT250 if they have such.

Because TMT250 has some unique IO elements which are available only for TMT250 device.

Thank you for your answer, it means that I can use the TMT250 with Traccar, which is basically what I wanted to know.

They don't yet, but that can be fixed.

Is there a specification somewhere, that I pass to the Traccar developers or use it myself to create full support for the TMT250?

Cheers,

Some IO under HW support tab -> have TMT250. Some are TMT250 exclusive, like:

  • Charger Connected
  • Battery Level (this according to doc is exclusive, and it was at the start, but later it was made global for all FMB platform [for devices with battery])

Data sending protocols documentation:
